Jackie Colestock, MA, LPC

Hi, my name is Jackie and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania. I have been working as a therapist for over 10 years in various settings encompassing inpatient, outpatient and residential treatment. My primary therapeutic approach is using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-informed skills based therapy to support individuals in identifying ways to cope with PTSD and mental health symptoms through tangible and accessible coping skills. I also incorporate holistic approaches into my therapy practice such as breath work, meditation, movement and trauma-sensitive yoga. I am also trained to offer clinical and evidence-based practices to enhance my clients’ therapy experience: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

I am now offering individual and group therapy sessions to adults ages 18 and older. Sessions are held in-person or virtual depending on my client’s preferences and needs. I believe in the power of choice and I empower my clients to choose the therapy approach that fits them best.

My approach is trauma-informed and person-centered. I believe in empowering my clients to be the best versions of themselves. I lead through empathy, compassion and kindness to offer a healing and therapeutic environment for my clients. I believe that in times when words feel too hard and overwhelming to speak aloud, we can heal through coping skills, breathwork, movement and silent meditation. In times when the words cannot be found, we can heal through compassion, empathy, kindness and connection.

My Therapy Approaches

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT is an evidenced-based practice that was developed as a structured therapy to treat intense emotions. DBT encompasses a wide range of skills from 4 modules: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation and Interpersonal Effectiveness. DBT is a form of talk therapy that connects reason and emotion to achieve the most effective solution: The Wise Mind. DBT can help treat trauma, unhealthy relationships, emotional disturbances and emotions during crises.

Mindfulness and Compassion-Based Therapy

Mindfulness is full awareness of the present moment without judgement. Once we achieve mindfulness, we can better connect with our emotions and how they are affecting our internal and external worlds. Once mindful, we can then access the skills necessary to manage life stressors. I use mindfulness techniques from DBT, trauma-sensitive yoga and meditation scripts to treat stress, trauma, grief, loss, vicarious trauma, compassion-fatigue, burnout, and self-love.

Holistic Healing

Holistic approaches to healing can look slightly different than conventional psychology approaches. The holistic approaches that I incorporate in my therapy include aromatherapy, mindfulness, meditation, breath work, movement, nature, the 5 senses, and trauma-sensitive yoga. These approaches are meant to help you achieve a regulated state so that other work toward healing can take place.
